a bit of paradise…

26 Mar

Lately we’ve been big on fixing up our home.  We definitely need to save up money but it will happen.  Over the weekend, we did a few random home projects, well my husband did.  I went to Home Depot to help pick out options and then he installed them while I was working.

Our dining room finally has a fan.  It’s nice to have some air circulating in there. It makes a huge difference.  Of course, furniture is up next to purchase, but that won’t be for a bit. It’s super nice to have a fan in there though and not that expensive!

The other project my husband did was something he had an idea for my birthday.  He asked me though before as it was spending a pretty big chunk of money and we had agreed to no presents.  (I got a sushi kit, a bird bath, and his surprise idea from him.) Of course that was broken, and at home depot we picked up supplies for him to build “an island oasis” as he called it.  We have an awkward spot in our yard next to our screened in patio.  He wanted a hammock for our yard as we love laying in hammocks and it’s a great place to relax.  And as some of our family put it, we have the perfect back yard for it living in Florida.

It's easy to make and comfy!

Well, the hardest part is moving the grass to other parts of the yard. (Oh Florida and your weird grass.)

We bought:

  • the hammock & stand
  • 14 bags of rubber mulch
  • weed netting
  • a trim piece to keep all the mulch in

Now we have a great place to relax in our back yard (if we fall, the rubber mulch won’t hurt) that I feel brings out some of our character in the back yard. It’s fun to get these little projects done and see our house slowly come together.

Anyone want to come use our hammock?
