pictures can be deceiving…

Looks perfect, doesn't it?

It’s been awhile since I posted a blog about our house hunting adventures.  Well, my amazing husband and I have been going with a Realtor once a week. We had a few weeks that we had a break, as we between our amazing Realtor and ourselves, life got in the way.  And while we are in no real rush for a home, we want a home of our own soon and are very exciting to tackle this stressful, exciting process!

Pictured above is one of the houses we went to go see yesterday.  May I just say, it was raining HORRIBLY.  I am very proud of all of us for laughing and making it a really fun time.  Also, it’s not necessarily bad to visit in the rain, as that house above had a leaky window.  We would have never noticed this if it was sunny! This house is in a little community called Tanglewood. Here is a link to a company listing the house.   The pictures look beautiful if you look through them. Yes, the house is older (built in 1987), but it looks like it is really well taken care of.  The house was very nice, but it wasn’t for us.  The bathrooms were old.  Probably the original ones in the house, and it’s just not our taste, so we would have to spend a lot of time and money to remodel the bathrooms if we got the house.   As much as we thought this house could be it, we learned a valuable lesson, we want a newer house. We don’t mind putting work into it, but not to redo an entire bathroom. We will change out some carpet or swap carpet for tile, but we don’t want a huge project as to redo the entire bathroom.   Also, this house was in a guarded gated community. Great feature, but not so great for HOA fee’s, and we simply can’t afford that much right now, so we went off to look at a few more options!

we deem you ugly wallpaper!

That’s a second one we looked at.  First off, I loved the stonework. Cheesy yes, but I love it.  However, if you click on the link that I have, you will see why we deemed it ugly wall paper.  It’s just not our style!  However, the house was.  It was four bedroom, I only deem it three, as they claim besides the master, the other 3 are the same size, but I don’t like the shape of the one, so we would make it a work-out room!  It’s all one floor, which we are a bit torn on, as our kittens are used to having stairs.  When we house hunt, it’s not just for my husband, myself, and our roommate, our kittens matter too!  So we don’t know how they would do without the stairs.  However, on the plus sign it’s a long house. Lots of stampeding! Also, we think they will get over not having stairs, as there are some other great options for the house.

One other great option of this house, is that there are other houses with the same floor plan, so we have some price options!  We found another one that looks exactly like that house in the same subdivision. We have another date on Monday to go look at another house with the same floor plan.  We found a really great area though, so I think we will have something soon!  However, we are just enjoying the journey!

Aww good luck finding something. I can’t believe how affordable houses are where you are! L.A. sucks!

I liked the stone work too, but you’re right – if the rest of your roomies aren’t going to like it, then it’s best to find something you can all be happy with. Your dream house is out there, I just know it! 🙂

Yes. haha. This is out into Orlando some, but it’s a really great location, right near a nature area so there are hiking trails and whatnot. We might end up with the same floor plan, as we did love it, just one that is a LOT cheaper for the exact same house.

I like the stonework of the second house too. Man those prices are nice, we’d be paying about the same in mortgage payments that we are paying rent now. I know it sucks for the people living down there but I hope the market stays like this for at least a couple more years till we buy a house. If we do end up in Florida, you and Ryan are gonna be a good resource. Good luck!

I will say Rachel, Market is already on the rebound down here. Prices are starting to go up in a lot of areas and it’s getting a lot harder to get a “deal” and when you bid on a house, it’s not just you, it’s you and about 20 billion other people, so it’s a bit tough! Hopefully we find something soon!
