eee! (and many forks…) an anniversary tale…

4 Mar

Yesterday was my amazing husband’s and mine’s two year wedding anniversary!  Super excited we were,  we had big plans! Well for dinner at least!  We were going to Victoria’s and Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian resort!  However, we didn’t have anything planned for during the day.  Last year we ended up going parasailing! And it was a LOT of fun!

first year anniversary - parasailing!

I hate heights, but we had so much fun! So this year we had the big dinner plans, but no daytime plans.  After a lazy morning with our kittens, we had decided to rent a boat! A searacer to be exact from Disney’s Polynesian Resort.  We headed to the Grand Floridian first to get some lunch at Gasperilla home of the Reuben Hot Dog which my hubby loves!  I, unfortunately, had some VERY disappointing lobster mac and cheese! However, after lunch we rented our boat and off we went!

on a boat!

Although, for any of you that know me, I don’t really like boats. They scare me.  This was a LITTLE boat.  So whenever my husband did sharp turns so he could get our wake (as I left him drive), I was screaming. Eeee!  I hate being that close to the water, but it was fun.  We went all over the seven seas lagoon and Bay Lake!  So fun!  It was fun. Even though we got a bit wet with the wind, we had a lot of fun driving around for about forty minutes!

After our adventure on the water, we wandered around the Polynesian a bit. Spending some time in a hammock — one of our favorite past-times and we visited Sunset Point where we got married two years earlier!

After our afternoon we came back to get all pretty, as we had to go to our dinner!  Oh my goodness! I had an image in my mind of what it would be like. however, it surpassed our expectations.  They have it down.  Our waiters and everyone in their knew our names, they knew we were celebrating our 2nd Anniversary.  Of course it’s a five star place so escorts to the bathroom and napkins on lap are a plus!

dining room

There were only about fifteen tables filled.  We were definitely the youngest people in the room, but we had the best time ever!  All seven courses were amazing! We started out with an Amuse-Bouche which was bite-size lobster four different ways.  Then we had our cold appetzier – we both chose the Buffalo “waldorf.”  After that, it was our fish course – Vegetable Ash-Crused Halibut with Butter Clams and Corn Chowder for my husband and Sake-Soy-marinated Alaskan King Salmon with Bok Choy and Soy Beans for myself!  So delicious!  After that I had lamb, he had duck three ways for our warm appetizer.  After that finally came our entree.  Pork Tenderloin for him and Veal Tenderloin for me!  By that point I was getting full, but we still had two more courses to go!  Next up was White Chocolate Gelato.  And finally for dessert he had Caramelized Banana Gateau and I had Hawaiian Kona Chocolate Souffle. We also shared a half bottle of champagne and coffee for dessert!

Oh, did I mention we had three courses of bread with it and butter to match, and then three different candies/chocolates after the meal?  Oh, and we got a breakfast type bread to take home! It was an amazing meal, and I am SO happy we sprung for it.  Yes it was expensive ($125 per person), I feel it was worth it. It wasn’t too much food, yes, you ended up feeling stuffed, but with all seven courses prepared that were so delicious! AND explained to you, and the amazing service, it is DEFINITELY something to splurge for.  I am kinda going to try to find a way to go there again next year for year three if we can afford it!

We clean up pretty nice!

So, I’m sure we didn’t have the best manners, although we tried our hardest, we tipped well, AND we had an amazing time.  We couldn’t stop smiling all the way home.  It was definitely an evening we will remember for a very long time!  It’s one of those evenings that puts you in a good mood for days after.  Maybe it was just the amazing company!

It was an amazing second anniversary, a great celebration, and now here is to many, many more!
