two songs…

18 Jan

nothing can describe how I feel better than the following two songs… well, first one is a song, second one is a poem or lyric or whatever it is that I wrote sometime in 2003… that still speaks to me to this day.

Oh, I could hide neath the wings
Of the bluebird as she sings.
The six oclock alarm would never ring.
Whoops its ringing and I rise,
Wipe the sleep out of my eyes.
My shavin razors cold and it stings.

Cheer up, sleepy jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.

You once thought of me
As a white knight on a steed.
Now you know how happy I can be.
Oh, and our good times starts and end
Without dollar one to spend.
But how much, baby, do we really need.

Cheer up, sleepy jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.
Cheer up, sleepy jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.

[instrumental interlude]

Cheer up, sleepy jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.
[repeat and fade]

—————

There once was a girl who would never stop smiling
You would tell her off, and her face would be shinning.
The days passed, the years went by, soon that girl started to die.

The smile was gone, a fake one in its place,
everyone thought everything was okay.
As she tried to get away from it all, throwing herself in her music once more.

She became happier the girl underneath, no longer thinking if anyone cared.
Her heart grew colder except for her songs, or when she thought of that special someone.
The girls smile appeared although the girl deep inside changed her world.

No longer was she sad, no longer did she care,
about what happened to her.

Then one day, still to come, along came someone
who looked pas the smile and inside her heart,
the girl became happier once she found this friend,
and wished that everyone would see her real self.

Until that day comes, she’ll be all alone
with no one to understand her, but her own,
happy little world to see her smile, see the inside,
see whats going on in her mind.

People wonder what happened to me,
because I am that girl they see.
My smile is back, true in my heart,
but if you saw in my mind,
we’d be two worlds apart.
